Gender: Identity and Social Change includes primary sources for the study of gender history, women’s suffrage, the feminist movement and the men’s movement. Other key areas represented in the material include: employment and labour, education, government and legislation, the body, domesticity and the family.

Aside from material relating to suffrage, equal rights, feminism, and traditional women’s gender roles, this database includes types of material that are not represented in similarly themed databases, including:

  • Material on the men’s movement
  • The Betty Friedan writing files from the Schlesinger Library
  • First hand accounts of Victorian era working women
