About the Education Commons

The Education Commons is a place to study, learn, and make located in the George A. Weiss Pavilion in Franklin Field. In addition to open study areas for individuals and groups, it has six technology-rich, reservable group study rooms and a 24-seat seminar room. The Education Commons offers 3D scanning and printing and has a makerspace, the TinkerLab. Open to all of the Penn community, the EC offers programming and teaching support to empower users with technology from 3D modeling to sewing.

3D printing & scanning

Scanning a 3d monster in the Education Commons

The EC offers both by-request and self-service 3D printing and 3D scanning as well as 3D modeling software. We offer training for individuals and groups and work with classes and campus groups to incorporate 3D printing and modeling into assignments and activities.
