Dana Berkowitz
As web developer for University of Pennsylvania Libraries, Dana works on the main library website as well as projects including new and existing web applications. She works closely with application developers, designers, the Libraries’ Office of Strategic Communication, and other stakeholders across the libraries to support or expand features of the website, which serves thousands of users per day with varying levels of research experience and a wide variety of information and research needs.
Before coming to Penn, Dana worked at Yale University Library Access Services for the Robert B. Haas Family Arts Library and at Princeton University as the Information Systems Specialist for the Plasma Physics Laboratory Facilities Department. Dana has served as webmaster for both New Jersey and New England chapters of the Special Libraries Association as well as Communications Director for New England. During her tenure as webmaster, she oversaw a migration to a new platform.
In 2019, she was granted the SLA Career Advancement Award and in 2020 she received the SLA Rising Star Award which recognizes early career leaders. Dana holds a double Bachelor of Arts in English and Cinema from the University of Hartford and a Masters of Library and Information Science with concentration in Digital Libraries from Rutgers University.
