The Synthesis Digital Library of Engineering and Computer Science, published by Morgan & Claypool, is a unique content collection of nearly one thousand 50-130 page lectures currently arranged into fifty-three themed series by prominent editors in the field.  These subject collections include technical areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, Digital Circuits and Systems, Signal Processing, and Mathematics and Statistics. Penn Engineering faculty members Norm Badler, Boon Thau Loo, and Rob Mauck are among the authors of these in-depth overviews and analyses.  Synthesis Digital Library is a dynamic collection in that new lectures become available as soon as they are ready rather than held back until the last title in a bundle is completed.  In addition, lectures are revised as necessary by authors in particularly fast moving fields.

Given the interdisciplinary nature of engineering, researchers will find solid introductory material within the Synthesis Digital Library when entering a new field.  Instructors may find useful and easily accessible material here to incorporate into their courses with flexible licensing that allows for unlimited simultaneous users as well as downloading, printing and emailing.  Written on specific topics that instructors may want to address in class, these publications may serve as an alternative or supplemental to traditional textbooks which may provide less detailed coverage of these topics.
