Description

Established in 2007 by Penn Libraries' Overseer, Dhiren H. Shah, W'82 and his wife Katherine, the Dhiren H. Shah and Katherine M. Shah Endowment for Library Collections supports acquisitions for the Penn Libraries in all disciplines.

"Katie and I decided to establish an endowed collection fund at the Penn Libraries because we know how critical these information resources are to teaching and learning at the University. Our fund is multidisciplinary, so it can purchase materials in whatever area is most urgently needed in any given year."

The Penn Libraries was delighted to have Dhiren join its Board of Overseers in 2004, where he has been actively involved and serves on the Development Committee. In his professional life, Dhiren is a managing director of Greenhill & Co., an independent global investment banking firm focused on mergers and acquisitions. He is Chairman of CAMFED USA Foundation, which supports girls' education in rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa. Dhiren serves on the Board of Trustees of Trinity School in New York City. He is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute.

In addition to their philanthropy at the Libraries, the Shahs have supported the University's Center for the Advanced Study of India, and Dhiren has served on his class reunion gift committee. Katherine, Dhiren and their four children live in New York City.
