Description

The exhibit marks the 50th anniversary of the Grand Opening of the Penn Museum's Academic Wing and the Museum Library in its current location. Featuring photographs and other memorabilia from 1971-1972, pulled from the Penn Museum Archives and Museum Library’s own files, the exhibit encourages viewers to reflect on how the award-winning space of the Museum Library has continued as a thoughtfully-designed resource facilitating both quiet study and meaningful interactions through the changing years.

While the library is periodically upgraded to meet evolving needs of Penn’s students and researchers, it remains one of the world’s leading research centers in anthropology, “emphasizing the connections between the old and new,” just as its original architects intended. The exhibit will remain on display in the Museum Library’s beautiful new cases until January 2022.
