Join Ashley Bryan for a viewing of a documentary about his life and work, followed by a Q & A session with Bryan, Nichols Clark, founding executive director of the Ashley Bryan Center, and Daniel Lief, of the Center’s Board of Directors.
Ashley Bryan is the author and illustrator of over forty children’s books, including Beautiful Blackbird (2003), perhaps his best known book, winner of the 2004 Coretta Scott King Award, and more recently the powerful Freedom Over Me: Eleven Slaves, Their Lives and Dreams Brought to Life by Ashley Bryan (2016), based on original slavery documents acquired by Bryan.
