The 50th reunion gift of the Class of 1944 refurbished a study area in the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center. The study haven with private individual cherry-and-slate desks was designed by renowned cabinet maker Thomas Moser as a place where students can study (and dream!) as Penn students have been doing for generations.
The Class of 1944 Carrel Area was brightened with fresh paint, new carpet, and better lighting. Its walls are reminders of the class's generosity. Framed memorabilia from the Class of 1944 hang above the carrels, where one can visit and remember. It is a place where today's and tomorrow's students will be able to glimpse into the Class of 1944's era, giving them a sense of continuity and history.
