Description
In the second half of the nineteenth century, Penn Professor Daniel Garrison Brinton assembled an impressive collection of books, manuscripts, and artifacts related to Mesoamerica; at the same time, his published work helped to define the emerging discipline of anthropology in the United States. This exhibit explores the relationship between collecting and anthropology at Penn by bringing together materials drawn from Brinton's papers and his collection of linguistic books and manuscripts.
