Zola and the Dreyfus Affair
Intellectuals and the Struggle for Social Justice
On exhibit October 2, 2001 - December 3, 2001
The aim of “Zola and the Dreyfus Affair: Intellectuals and the Struggle for Social Justice,” is not to merely record the historical events, but to provoke insight, to provide the basis for understanding the context of events, to show the opposing voices and differing agendas. The response to such challenges in the fledgling democracy of the Third Republic in France allows reflection on other histories. This exhibition features items selected from the Lorraine Beitler Collection of the Dreyfus Affair.
